Weight loss: why any form of exercise will aid weight loss to an extent...

Food for thought...

Any form of exercise will eliminate energy (and aid the elimination of excess weight when combined with a calorie controlled diet) to an extent - this resembles a root reason why focusing on the fundamentals of fitness i.e.finding an enjoyable form of exercise that's sensible, sustainable and suited to our current strength, stamina and self-esteem, is far more important (and likely to maintain our motivation!) than fixating on government guidelines, focusing on intense training and/or following a fitness fad when establishing a new exercise regime.
