Weight loss fact: one pound of fat contains 3,500 calories...

Fast fact...

One pound of fat contains 3,500 calories - this means that in order to eliminate one pound (0.5kg) of excess weight each week, we must create a caloric deficit of 500 calories a day, an action that becomes 'easier' to achieve (and sustain!) if we take a sensible approach to slimming by combining a calorie controlled diet, with a regular exercise regime (the latter allowing us to increase energy expenditure without resorting to the restrictive eating that sabotages weight loss success!).
